"They Want To Join Hands With Separatists... Break India": PM Slams AAP
PM Narendra Modi said, "They are ready to break the country if required. Their agenda is not different from the agenda of the country's enemies and Pakistan. That's why they echo Pakistan's line on surgical strikes"
Abroha (Punjab): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attacked Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, which is emerging as the major challenger to the ruling Congress in the state, accusing it of having the same agenda as Pakistan, which is "to break India... to join hands with separatists to gain power." Without naming AAP or Kumar Vishwas, PM Modi referred to Mr Kejriwal's comment that he wanted to be "Chief Minister of Punjab or Khalistan" and stated that they (AAP) are "willing to divide country for vote bank... My Punjab has suffered a lot."
"You must have heard his (Arvind Kejriwal's) former close aide who was AAP's in-charge of Punjab elections last time and his close friend," Prime Minister Modi said. He clarified his point by saying that this person "During the Anna Andolan, I used to stand with a flag. The country's young generation waits for hours to attend his Kavi Sammelans across the country as a poet and thinker "..
"Yesterday, he made a very dangerous allegation. Every voter and citizen must take his aide's description of his character very seriously."
"These people want to destabilise Punjab," the Prime Minister added. "They are willing to work with separatists to gain power." They are prepared to break the country if necessary. Their agenda is identical to that of the country's adversaries and Pakistan. That is why they support Pakistan's position on surgical strikes. That is why they want to expand the drug network in Punjab."
The BJP released a video of Kumar Vishwas' allegations yesterday.
"If AAP forms government in Punjab, this could be extremely dangerous," senior party leader and IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted.
Mr Vishwas is heard recounting a conversation with Mr Kejriwal in the video, without naming him. "One day, he told me he would either become the Chief Minister of Punjab or the first Prime Minister of an independent nation (Khalistan)... he wants power at any cost," he is heard saying.
Kumar Vishwas, a former AAP leader and close aide to Mr Kejriwal, has left the party and is no longer involved in politics.
Today, Mr Malviya tweeted, "Prime Minister exposes Arvind Kejriwal and his sinister plans to push Punjab back into the dark days of separatism..."
Kumar Vishwas' claims have been dismissed by the AAP. Senior party leader Raghav Chadha issued a strongly worded statement, captioning it: "Kumar Vishwas has been circulating/publishing the said videos through the use of forged and fabricated video with the devious intent to defame and deride Sh Arvind Kejriwal."
Mr Chadha described the comments as "malicious, unfounded, fabricated, and inflammatory," adding that they are "redolent of promoting hatred, ill will, and feelings of hostility in society, particularly against the Aam Aadmi Party... as well as intending to create a situation of unrest."
